Hot tubs have gained significantly in popularity over the years. Hot Tubs are available commercially but also popular in large homes. People use their hot tubs (oversized tubs) to soak in as an alternative to going to a commercial spa. Initially only larger homes had hot tubs while ordinary people would have to go to commercial hot tubs to get a good soak. But today hot tubs have become a part of many home bathroom remodeling projects. Thanks to the popularity of Home Improvement and Do-it-yourself television channels, internet websites and articles. Instead of living in simple homes with basic necessities people have started opting for more luxury in their lives. This has a lot to do with the increase in stress in our day to day lives. - Massages are commonplace at spasmassage therapy at the spa image by MAXFX from Fotolia.com
While a hot tub is gaining popularity it is not the same as a spa. A spa is a place where you go to get a good soak, massage, a wrap and a variety of other body treatments. Although originally water did feature prominently in this type of treatment, today some spas feature mud baths while others feature body wraps and almost all feature massages. In addition to the regular salon services - facials, manicures and pedicures. - Hot springs are naturally therapeuticJapanese hot springs image by tarheel1776 from Fotolia.com
Hydrotherapy is the reason behind the popularity of hot tubs and spas. Relaxing in a hot pool of water after a hard days work is effective in relaxing tired muscles and relieving stress. Spas originally were built around hot springs and hydrotherapy was the main treatment. Hot tubs attempt to stimulate the natural hot spring experience at home. But today spas are not localized to hot springs and don't necessarily offer hydrotherapy treatments. - Swirl jets enable water to swirl in a circular fashiontourbillon vert image by R.Bauer objectifs.de from Fotolia.com
There are many kinds of hot tubs that combine hydrotherapy with massage. They offer various seating arrangements (can seat up to 8 or as few as four), customized jet positioning and number of jets, and a selection of jets to choose from. Swirl jets enable water to swirl in a circular fashion. Whirlpool jets are also round jets that concentrate pressure in a specific area. Mini jets are grouped in clusters to provide to focus on pressure points. There are pillow jets for the neck area and shoulder jets for the shoulder area. There are also moving massage jets which move back and forth in a pulsating motion. - A facial can reveal a healthier and fresher complexion.getting a facial image by Kelly Kane from Fotolia.com
Spas built around hot springs offer hydrotherapy but for the part hydrotherapy is not a main feature of most spas. Most spas today offer massage therapy for stress relief along with a whole host of other treatments to cleanse and improve the look of the body and various parts. There are treatments geared towards the entire body like body wraps and mud baths.
There are also treatments targeting specific parts like facials that involve deep cleaning the face along with a neck and shoulder massage, there are manicures that involve soaking and massaging hands and later shaping and polishing nails, there are pedicures that require getting rid of dead skin cells on the surface of feet with scrubbers and soaks and massaging the feet and polishing and shaping nails. There are also hair treatments that entail scalp massage followed by wash and possibly cutting and styling as needed.
