  Nicknamed "The Natural State," Arkansas is not lacking in mountainous regions, rolling hills, thick forests, caves and massive waterways that include rivers and lakes. With its hot, humid summers and cold winters, campers may wish to visit during the milder spring and fall months, unless traveling by RV. While you probably can't go wrong camping in many areas of Arkansas, some places you won't want to miss because of their outdoor recreation attractions, which all offer campgrounds, including the Crater of Diamonds State Park, Bull Shoals Lake, Ouachita Mountains and the Ozark National Forest.
  
  

Self Creek

• Self Creek Campground is located on Lake Greeson in western Arkansas near Murfreesboro. It is a 12-mile lake used by campers and visitors for fishing, boating and various other water sports. Lake Greeson offers a variety of fish including rainbow trout, bass and catfish. The lake is also located next to the Crater of Diamonds State Park and Daisy State Park, a park situated at the base of Ouachita Mountain. Several trails throughout the area offer bicyclists views of forests, mountains and rolling hills. Some trails cater specifically to ATV riders with challenging trails through the parks and along the lake shore. Campers can stay at one of 72 campsites, 41 with electric hook-ups and all with access to hot showers, a swim beach, boat ramp, grills and fire rings.

Ozark Isle Park

• Ozark Isle Park, located on Bull Shoals Lakes in north Arkansas, places campers in a prime spot to enjoy the fishing opportunities, clear water and the remote wooded scenery of this lake area. Visitors to Bull Shoals come to swim, fish and enjoy a variety of water sports with various boat rentals available from its on-site marina. Its clear waters bring many visitors to the lake for scuba diving. Campsites include 188 sites with full hook-ups. Campers can use the park's flush toilets, showers, playground and picnic shelters.

Wilderness Hills RV Park and Campground

• Wilderness Hills, located in a remote wilderness area in northwestern Arkansas, offers shady, quiet campsites in tracts of undeveloped forest. It's near the Ozark National Forest, a 1.2 million-acre forest area with the tallest mountain in the state, Mount Magazine, an underground cave, several hiking trails and fishing spots. Park campsites include 25 sites with full hook-ups, a picnic table and grill and restrooms with showers.
