Walls

• Black, white and red are ideal choices for the walls of a fireman-themed bedroom. In a child's bedroom, consider painting the walls white and paint black dots on them to resemble the dots of a Dalmatian. In an adult's room or a living room, paint two walls white and two walls black. To incorporate red, hang wallpaper or use stencils resembling bricks on a focal wall. Add to the whimsy of a child's room by adding firetruck and fireman decals.

• The furniture you choose for a fireman-theme design depends on the room you are decorating. In a child's bedroom, a bed or a headboard that resembles a fire truck is an appropriate choice. In an adult's bedroom, sleek black lacquered furnishings are a better option. Furnish a living room with a black leather sofa and a coffee table that features a glass top and silver legs.
  
  

Linens

• Like the furniture, the linens you use in a fireman-themed room depends on who and what the room is for. In a living space, cover the windows with straight cotton black and white curtains and drape a black-and-white spotted throw blanket over the back of the couch. In an adult's bedroom, make the bed with white sheets and a black comforter, or vice versa, and set red throw pillows along the top of the bed. For a child's room, a comforter the features prints of fire trucks and other fire-related items and matching curtains would be an appropriate choice.
  
  

Accessories

• Bring in accessories to complete the look of a fireman-themed room. In your child's bedroom, include accessories that allow him to pretend he's a fireman. Set out toy fire trucks on shelves. Set a toy box that resembles a fire truck at the end of a bed and create an area filled with fireman costumes for dress up. For a living space or an adult room, choose accessories that will create a more grown-up look. Frame black and white pictures of antique fire trucks, fire hydrants and firefighters and hang them on the walls. Lean a ladder against a wall and use it as a display shelf.
