There are certain exact foot placements, pressure requirements, and agility skills.
Sure, you can experiment all you want with the right balance, but at the end of the day, it comes down to a specific solution.
There is a lot more experimenting in group lessons which can lead the risk of injury.
Private lessons are not only safer but will take less time.
There's no question that group lessons work.
With busy schedules these days, and lack of free time, we all sense a need to be more efficient.
From experience, I have seen over fifty beginners learn to ride off of curbs in their first private lesson.
