Why Really Simple Piano Songs Are Great For Absolute Beginners To Learn To Play
If like me, you are just beginning to learn to play piano then you are going to need some really simple things to play on piano.
It is important for complete beginners because the main thing is to enjoy playing first, gain some confidence and then worry about the more complicated side of things later on.
Once you are just familiar with very simple things about piano you can then move forward on to theory, scales and chords.
The best thing a beginner can do is learn some really simple piano songs that are popular and familiar, so that you know how the melody should sound before playing.
Even better, if you can play a simple piano song to family or friends and get a positive reaction then this will really spur you on and gain enthusiasm.
I found that the biggest obstacle that I had to over come was coordinating my left and right hands so that I could at least get a rhythm and sound.
It's a little bit like rubbing your belly and patting your head at the same time.
What I found that helped me was breaking the song down into smaller sections first, so maybe start on the intro or verse, left hand only and then add the right hand melody to this.
It's amazing how quickly you can progress by doing this.
The thing with practice is also not to over do the sessions, so I set aside an hour a day in the evening to play.
I found a really simple version of a song that I knew and just stuck to it.
The first song I learned to play on piano was 'Let It Be' by the Beatles.
It has a really familiar melody which is simple and because it was written on piano then it just lends itself to being played on the instrument.
The rhythm of the songs is quite slow and direct too so that made it very simple for me to learn and within half an hour of my first attempt I had managed to get the tune sounding quite good.
Even my partner was quite impressed with my progress and couldn't actually believe it was me playing it in the other room.
It really made me feel good to know that I was actually playing piano and it didn't matter that it was such a simple song.
To me it sounded great, I can now play the entire song on piano and has inspired me to learn another song already.
I'm now trying a really simple version of 'Candle In The Wind' by Elton John and making great progress.
