5 Steps to Lowering Stress Levels As a Successful Entrepreneur
Although you may be a successful entrepreneur, you might not be caring for your body well enough to sustain success over a long period of time is your work is stressful.
This article will help you focus on 5 simple strategies to maintain better health with less stress and more success.
If you know me at all then you know that in 2007 I had an accident that caused a traumatic brain injury.
I had to relearn many things while regaining control over my mind, my body and my life.
On the road to recovery I began researching how the body works in a desperate attempt to heal.
I pulled up any on-line resource I could find and what I discovered during that time was amazing.
Whether you agree with my findings or not, you would do well do heed these suggestions.
Not only have I proven that this understanding of caring for your body has the ability to heal, but so have many other entrepreneurs who successfully put these suggestions into practice.
With every single seizure I had, I routinely went into stress mode at the thought of being left paralyzed, permanently brain damaged, or worse.
When I held on to this stress, my body felt it in my neck, my shoulders, my chest.
For you, stress might look like financial problems, business or marital problems.
My nervous system, which is attached to my brain stem and the limbic area of my brain, became disoriented, confused.
This happens to you as well since we're made in the same image.
The prefrontal cortex of my brain probably lit up like a Christmas tree as any part of our brain does when it gets stressed.
When this happens, all the firing off of neurons went to that stressed part of my brain, just like yours does when you get stressed.
You know the term tension headache? It's holding on to stress in that particular area of your brain, just like you can hold stress in particular parts of your body.
When your body holds on to stress do you ever notice that your neck hurts or your lower back aches or your stomach hurts? Often, the pain makes you feel like you have entered into brain fog because it's all you can pay attention to.
Make sense? So, what do you do about eliminating this stress, or tension headaches? First, understand this takes time and practice, and any entrepreneur knows that repetition is important to our survival.
Second, practice letting go of the outcome of whatever it is you're fighting with.
I use the phrase 'fighting with' because no one is fighting with you except you.
It's an internal battle of the 'what ifs'.
The fear is what keeps stress held in your body.
Stress, is caused from an expectation of a certain outcome.
I'll give you an example: The day before a huge launch on-line launch, everything with technology systems seemed to fall apart.
My team and I were sent scrambling to try and rectify several problems.
I took on stress for the next 6 hours; in my neck, shoulders and chest.
I felt it immediately begin when I feared what the outcome would be if the technology didn't work.
I finally got to a point where I said, "That's it, I quit.
I can't do this any more.
" When I felt everything had finally been rectified, I left the office, sat down in my husband's recliner at home, and relaxed.
While doing so, I said, "Kellie, YOU can't do anything about the outcome of this so let it go.
" Once you've practiced letting go of the outcome (over and over again) it becomes habit and your subconscious brain no longer gives special attention to the area of your body that is stressed.
It relaxes and life is filled with joy again.
How did I release the outcome of what appeared to be a stressful launch? Very easily.
I closed my eyes and began by:
Care enough about your body to feel whats happening inside of it and listen when it needs a break.
Make the conscious decision to breathe, release, relax and feel healthy again.
It truly is one of the most important ways to sustain your success as an entrepreneur.

How did I release the outcome of what appeared to be a stressful launch? Very easily.
I closed my eyes and began by:
- Breathing in deep and slow.
Four seconds in, hold it, four seconds out. - I sat with the feeling of fear without hearing the drama, or judging the feelings of stress.
- I just let the feeling of panic sit there, felt where it was inside my body, which was in my neck, shoulders and chest.
- I just sat there quietly listening to my breathing until I felt my body relax.
- The more I relaxed, the more I saw the stress melt away.
