Loosen the end of the roll and unroll about 10 feet of it along the ground, flattening it as you unroll it. It is helpful to have a second person secure the re-mesh by standing on it as you unroll and cut it. - 2

Cut the re-mesh with the bolt cutters along each wire from the top of the roll to the bottom at the far end of the 11th section. Thus the beginning edge of the re-mesh retains its upright support wire, but the cut edge has wire spikes sticking out all along the height of the piece. - 3). Roll the re-mesh into a cylinder and loosely bend the spikes flat around the uncut edge at each 6-inch division. This will create a cage about 5 feet in circumference and 18 to 20 inches in diameter, which gives a broad base of support for a heavy tomato vine.
- 4). Cut off the supporting edge wire at one end of the cylinder, so that the cage now has spikes sticking out all around the bottom.

Measure the tomato plot in order to plant your tomatoes 18 to 20 inches apart in rows or beds. Plant the tomato seedlings in the center of each space where each tomato cage will sit. - 2). Center the cage over a tomato plant. Insert each cage into the ground over the plants using the bottom spikes for entry and stability. Press down around the bottom rung with your foot, making sure the cage is plumb.

Place cages closely together in one or two adjacent rows, as the large mesh size facilitates fruit picking. Secure each cage to the others in its group using twine or wire and, at the ends of the rows, to a stake in the ground. This practice will increase the stability of the cage unit in case of high winds during heavy vining and fruiting.
