Loosen the end of the roll and unroll about 10 feet of it along the ground, flattening it as you unroll it. It is helpful to have a second person secure the re-mesh by standing on it as you unroll and cut it.

Cut the re-mesh with the bolt cutters along each wire from the top of the roll to the bottom at the far end of the 11th section. Thus the beginning edge of the re-mesh retains its upright support wire, but the cut edge has wire spikes sticking out all along the height of the piece.

    • 3). Roll the re-mesh into a cylinder and loosely bend the spikes flat around the uncut edge at each 6-inch division. This will create a cage about 5 feet in circumference and 18 to 20 inches in diameter, which gives a broad base of support for a heavy tomato vine.

    • 4). Cut off the supporting edge wire at one end of the cylinder, so that the cage now has spikes sticking out all around the bottom.
