How to Make Castle Pop Up Cards

    • 1). Buy or make a blank greeting card out of any color cardstock you like. You can make a blank card by folding a piece of cardstock in half.

    • 2). Find a picture of a castle. You can use an image you find on the Internet and printed, a clipart image from publishing software you printed, a drawing you created or a picture of a castle from a magazine. Make sure the picture of the castle is not so big that it sticks out of the card when it folded. In addition, if the picture of the castle is printed on thin paper, like the page of a magazine, glue the picture to a piece of cardstock and cut the image out when the glue is dry.

    • 3). Fold the strips of paper. Fold a 1.2-inch x 2-inch strip of paper in half, creasing the paper. Unfold the paper and bring either end of the strip of paper to the middle crease, creating two new folds. Crease the paper at the folds. When all the three creases in the strip of paper are folded 90-degrees in the same direction, you will create a 3D square. Use a small piece of tape at the open end of the square to maintain its shape. Make small squares out of all five strips of paper.

    • 4). Glue two of the 3D paper squares to the bottom of the backside of the castle picture: one on the bottoms left side and one on the bottom right. The bottom parts of the squares of paper need to be at the same level as the bottom of the castle. Glue two more squares on the upper left and right sides of the back of the castle, and glue the middle square to the middle of the castle.

    • 5). Center the castle on the card and glue the bottom sides of the lower 3D squares and their adjacent sides to the center fold of the open blank greeting card. Place a dot of glue on the back end of the other paper squares so they stick to the upper portion of the opened greeting card. Allow the glue to dry completely.
