In our current time, different disorders and diseases are starting to manifest itself unlike in the past wherein unusual diseases are rare. The modern world today provides different contributing factors that lead to the occurrence of these diseases. Still, one contributing factor that is considered potent in the past and up until now is genetics. Genetics plays big role in the occurrence of a disease especially if it is genetic in nature. Treatment measures for these disorders are not present in the past but not in our current time. Medical advances in science today give us different ways in order to combat the problems related to genetics. These treatment methods may not directly halt the disease progression but still, alleviating the manifestations of these disorders is a great benefit already.

Congenital Adrenal hyperplasia, also known as 21-Hdroxylase Enzyme deficiency, results in the deficiency of a vital hormone known as Cortisol. This hormone is very important in the production of Mineralocorticoids, Androgens and Estrogens. Cortisol is also known as the stress hormone. It gives our body the required adaptation mechanisms during the stressing moments such as increase in blood pressure, increase in blood glucose levels and fluid adjustments. In the case of the disorder, the Cortisol is insufficient but it undergoes hyperplasia after the body senses the insufficiency. If the Cortisol is reduced immensely then the homeostasis of the body is greatly affected.

Medical interventions are now present in order to treat this condition. The treatment is indirect but proves effective in slowing down or even halting the symptom progression. Medical professionals believe that the supplement of enough glucocorticoid or Cortisol hinders the mechanism of hyperplasia. If the body senses the adequate amounts of Cortisol, the body signals the hyperplastic cells to refrain from division. In this case, Cortisol level becomes normal and the production of the hormone is also regulated. In situation wherein the patient suffers in too much dehydration and electrolyte wasting, mineralocaorticoids such as Aldosterone is given in order to halt the advancing dehydration and electrolyte wasting. This gives the body the means of maintaining the proper electrolyte balance. During this phase, growth promoting agents are strictly avoided in order to prevent further hyperplasia.

Surgical measures are also utilized in order to repair the altered organs. The most common defect is the ambiguous genitalia in which the patient experiences unrecognizable form of genitals. Usually the manifestations in females are the enlargement of clitoris to the point a glans penis resemblance, closed vaginal opening and exaggerated labia majora. For males, the deviations are usually Hypospadias or the improper placement of the urethral orifice, micropenis or the overly small sized penis and the opposite of the latter which is abnormal enlargement of penis. Surgical measures are used to correct this conditions but the normal physiology of these organs cannot be restored anymore especially if the internal aspect of these organs are greatly affected.

Hereditary or genetic acquired diseases are the most feared ailments in our society. However due to the great advancement in science, we can now manipulate even the slightest deviation caused by the genetic disorders. Pharmacologic, medical and surgical procedures are used in order to negate the effects of these disorders.
