    • 1). Remove the duct covers by unscrewing them.

    • 2). Place the duct in a large tub and cover them with hot water.

    • 3). Add 1 cup bleach to the water and let the duct covers soak.

    • 4). Mix 2 cup vinegar with 2 cups water and pour the solution into a spray bottle.

    • 5). Spray the solution into the ducts as far as you can reach.

    • 6). Let the solution sit for 10 minutes.

    • 7). Scrub the solution into the ducts with a long-handled scrubbing brush.

    • 8). Wipe down the area with cloths.

    • 9). Scrub the duct covers with the bleach solution and a scrubbing brush. Be careful not to scrub off painted duct cover. Work until you remove all of the dirt. Pay special attention to the back of the duct covers, which will have more dirt on them.

      Rinse the duct covers in clear water and let them dry completely.

      Replace the duct cover by screwing them back into place.
