How To Lose Weight Before Your Holiday
Firstly, I'd like to tell you why holiday diets fail. The #1 reason being that most people set their weight loss target too high. So if they don't see pounds being shed after a few days of eating right and getting off the couch, they slowly start to get back into their bad eating habits.
The #2 reason is not eating enough calories. Low calorie diets do have a great success rate, however, if you decrease your caloric intake too much, you'll make yourself so damn hungry that you'll head straight for the pail of cookie dough ice cream.
The # 3 reason is TOO MANY "SHINY THINGS". I know there are TONS of gizmos and gadgets out there that promise that you'll have a great six pack or bikini bod by using their piece of "equipment". They strut around on T.V. with the body that YOU want, telling you that this can be YOU in a matter of weeks. Sorry to burst your bubble, but sitting in special chair and twisting your body from side-to-side isn't going to get you there.
This is where I come busting through the door, waving my arms and begging you to STOP THE MADNESS. Yes, you CAN lose inches in a healthy and safe way. Yes, you CAN get a beach ready body in weeks. Yes, you CAN lose weight before your holiday. . Yes, you CAN have the body and happy mindset that you've always wanted! Â However, it's going to take some work on your part.
There are options out there for everyone of every shape and size. The first step to losing dropping those inches is to change your eating habits. Eat 6 small meals a day, instead of 3 big ones. DO NOT skip meals. When you omit a meal, you'll be tempted to turn to unhealthy food choices. You get a hunger pang before noon hits, so you grab a chocolate bar to tie you over until lunch. Not a good choice. It is much easier and healthier on your body to eat regularly. Not to mention, that eating regularly will help to turn your body into a calorie burning machine. Your body will get used to your new eating habits, so it will burn those calories freely. By skipping meals, you are confusing your body. It goes into starvation mode and will store those excess calories instead of burning them.
The second step is…..you guessed it, EXERCISE. Yes you burn calories throughout the day, but if you want to start losing those inches, your calories burned must be higher than your calorie intake. If you don't have time to hit the gym, you can also just change some of your daily habits. Stretch in the morning, take the stairs, take a walk during a break at work, dance around your house. Just do something.
Always remember, any action is better than no action!
