How to Crochet a Cocoon Sweater
- 1). Chain 45 stitches. Crochet in your desired stitch pattern for 23 rows. For a V-Stitch pattern, common in cocoon sweaters, work one double crochet stitch, chain one stitch, work another double crochet stitch all for a single stitch. Repeat throughout your work. Fasten off.
- 2). Assemble sweater. Fold in half to bring the first row (neck edge) and last row (waist edge) together. Thread yarn through tapestry needle. Beginning in the corner where these two rows meet, sew six rows together to create armhole seams.
- 3). Crochet armhole edging. For first round, join yarn with a slip stitch to armhole edge near the seam. For second round, work two single crochets into the end of each row around, skip over seam and join with slip stitch in the first single crochet. Next, for the third round, chain one, skip first single crochet, work single crochet into each single crochet around. Join with slip stitch in first single crochet. Repeat the second round and then fasten off.
- 4). Weave in any ends, using your tapestry needle. Your cocoon sweater is now ready to wear.
