How to Make Felt Board Figures
- 1). Lay a piece of felt material on a flat, even surface. Mark out the outline of the felt figure, such as a rock, cloud, dog or cat, using a white crayon,
- 2). Color the outline of the felt shape using a darker marker, such as a deep red or black. Follow the contours of the shape and add details for emphasis. For example, if you are creating a felt sheep, add small, curved lines to mimic a thick coat.
- 3). Cut out the felt shapes using a pair of sharp scissors. Follow along the contour of each shape as carefully as possible.
- 4). Turn on your hot glue gun. Glue together separate sections of the same shape. For example, if you created a sheep, glue together the head and the body of the sheep by overlapping the head and body elements slightly.
- 1). Mark out a design on a piece of white card stock. Free hand the design, such as a rainbow, chicken or sun. Alternatively, draw a design using a stencil. Stencils are perfect when creating uniform letters and numbers.
- 2). Color in the shapes on the card stock with crayons or markers. Allow children to help you in this process.
- 3). Cut out all of the card stock shapes using a pair of sharp scissors. Cut out strips of felt material to fit onto the back of each shape. Make sure that each strip will not be visible around the sides of the card stock shape.
- 4). Turn over a card stock shape. Place a few dots of glue on a strip of felt backing material. Push the felt piece onto the back of the card stock shape and hold in place for a few seconds. Repeat with all the remaining shapes.
