    • 1). Sign up for Google Voice. This is free, you just have to be a Gmail email user. Go to the Google Voice website. You will be prompted to input your mobile number and text back Google with a code they provide to you. Google voice will transcribe all of your phone messages and email them to you for free. You will also be able to search through your voicemails as if they were emails.

    • 2). Sign up for Youmail. If you don't have Gmail and don't want it, this is another option. Calls you don't answer get forward to Youmail. The audiofile is then sent to your email addres, where you can open it on any computer and listen to it via your computer speakers or headphones. Youmail also has a free application service for Blackberry, Android and iPhone. The Youmail app will transcribe your voicemail and then you can easily send it to your email.

    • 3). Sign up for a pay service. There are many from which to choose. A couple include Evoice and jConnect. All of these services function like Youmail, sending voicemails to your email as an audio file. These services, on average, run about $20 a month as of 2010. Some companies offer trial periods. Also, if you already have Comcast Digital Voice and Hi-speed internet, you can sign up for Comcast Smartzone which will enable you to get your email and voicemail in the same place.
