Weave a Heart Shaped Wall Hanging for Valentine's Day

    • 1). Print out the heart shaped template from Enchanted Learning (see Resources) on a sheet of heavy-duty card stock.

    • 2). Color each heart with a different color, but you could make a combination such as: pink, red, pink and red, or blue, purple, blue and purple

    • 3). Use a ruler and a pencil to mark off every half inch around the circumference of second largest heart on the template.

    • 4). Use the hole punch to make a hole in the location of each pencil mark.

    • 5). Measure out forty inches of yarn or ribbon (color of your choice) to ensure there is enough for weaving around the entire circumference of the second largest heart. Insert the yarn or ribbon into a large-eyed plastic needle to make it easier to weave in and out of the holes. Pull the yarn or ribbon through one of the holes at the top of the second heart, but leave about ten inches at the end for making the loop when you finish weaving. The loop will be used for hanging the heart on the wall.

    • 6). Begin weaving the yarn or the ribbon in and out of the holes starting at the top and going all the way around the circumference of the second largest heart.

    • 7). Make the loop for hanging the heart by knotting together the ten inches of yarn or ribbon hanging off the first hole with the yarn or ribbon at the end of the weaving.

    • 8). Cut off the excess yarn or ribbon hanging off the knot.

    • 9). Hang the decorative heart on your wall for Valentine's Day, or give it to a friend as special valentine. Write a message on the back of the heart if you are making this into a valentine for your friend
