Pool Liner Removal

• 1). Drain the water from the pool using a submersible pump attached to a water hose. Throw the pump into the middle of the pool with the hose draped on the side for drainage. This process will take several hours if your pool is filled to capacity. After the submersible pump has drained nearly all of the water, use a wet shop vacuum to remove the remaining water from the pool.
  
  
• 2). Disconnect the skimmer from the pump. Unscrew the screws to the skimmer on the wall of the pool. Remove the skimmer and set it aside along with the screws for later.
  
  
• 3). Remove the top caps, metal bands and plastic clips from around the top of the pool and set aside.
  
  
• 4). Pull down the old liner and remove from the inside of the pool by cutting it into pieces with a utility knife.
  
  
• 5). Smooth out the sand with a rake and remove any rocks, sticks or other debris from the bottom of the pool. If the sand has settled too much, you may need to add a layer of pool sand to the bottom and smooth it out again.
  
  

New Pool Liner Installation

• 1). Place the new liner in the center of the pool and unfold it. Begin pulling the liner out to the walls of the pool. While smoothing out the bottom with an assistant or two, place the liner over the walls, clipping the liner to the wall with clothespins as you move around the pool.
  
  
• 2). Fill the pool with water and continue smoothing out the bottom. As you walk along the pool walls, release and reset one clothespin at a time, lowering the liner into the pool until all sides are even. Ensure there is still enough liner over the side to prevent the liner from slipping out.
  
  
• 3). Reconnect the skimmer to the pool wall after the water level reaches just below the skimmer hole. Puncture a screw hole into the liner where the skimmer connects. Ensure the skimmer is lined up properly and the liner is smooth before attempting to puncture. Have your assistant hold the skimmer in place from the outside of the pool as you secure the skimmer to the pool wall. Carefully cut a hole into the liner inside the face of the skimmer so that the water will flow through and allow for the inlet hose.
  
  
• 4). Remove the clothespins and replace them with the plastic clips, metal bands and caps along the top of the pool walls.
  
  
• 5). Fill the pool to approximately the middle of the skimmer plate or to the level recommended by your pool manufacturer.
