    • 1). Open iTunes on your computer to search for and download apps. As of March 2011, Apple had some 350,000 applications on the App Store. Click on "iTunes Store" under "Store" on the left-hand side of the iTunes window, then click "App Store" along the top of the main window to open the application store. You don't need to have your iPod connected to the computer to browse available games for the iPod touch. Click "iPhone" to search for iPod touch apps, as the two are sorted together.

    • 2). Click the "Games" button in the main window to browse the App Store for the kind of games you are looking for. Look down the right-hand side of the iTunes window for top-rated pay games and free games. The main window has games sorted by categories, starting with the newest games, then the most popular and later sorted by genre. Click on the title of a game or its icon to see more information about the title.

    • 3). Click on "Buy App" or "Free App" to download. You'll be asked to enter your Apple ID to download the game. If you set up your credit card information when you created your Apple ID, you can download paid games without entering it again. Otherwise, you'll be asked for it each time you choose to download a paid game. The game will download and be stored in your iTunes library.

    • 4). Connect your iPod to your PC with the provided USB cable. Your iPod then appears in the list of devices on the left-hand side of iTunes. Click on the iPod to display its options, then click the "Games" tab along the top. Make sure the checkbox beside "Sync games" is checked. Choose "All games" or "Selected games." When you choose the latter, a list of your games will appear in the gray box below, and you can check each individual game. Click "Apply" in the lower right-hand corner to sync the new games. Eject your iPod when the sync finishes to play games.

    • 5). Press the "App Store" button on your iPod touch at any time to download apps and games directly to the device. You need a valid Internet connection for this to work. You can then browse the apps and click the price, or free, to install them directly. The next time you connect your iPod to your computer, the games will be added to your iTunes library.
