Electroencephalograph technicians and technologists, also called electroneurodiagnostic technologists, are specialists who measure the electrical activity of the brain. They are responsible for administering electroencephalographs, which are given to people suffering from neurological disorders such as epilepsy, Parkinson's disease and Alzheimer's disease. They are also responsible for interviewing patients before the test and preparing reports on the test results. Many workplaces will provide on-the-job training in this field, but several programs exist at community colleges across the country. - Laboure College in Boston, Massachusetts, offers a certificate program in electroneurodiagnostic technology. In order to be eligible for the certificate, applicants must already hold an associate or higher degree at an accredited college or university. The certificate program consists of 50 credits spread over 2 years, with the majority of them coming in the first year.

Students receive the diploma after three semesters and the associate degree after 2 years of coursework. Before being cleared to enter this program, students must pass a background check as well as provide proof of immunity. This is due to the inevitable time students will spend in hospital and clinic settings.

The course of study takes about 22 months, or four full semesters and one summer term. The course starts in the fall semester of each even-numbered year. Students are educated in electroencephalography and evoked potential (BAEP, PVEP, SSEP) testing and are introduced to other testing procedures such as nerve conduction studies (NCS), long-term monitoring (LTM) for epilepsy, intraoperative neurophysiological monitoring (IONM), and transcranial doppler (TCD) studies.
