Interior water features are contained devices that cycle water in streams or pools indoors. They are made of water and rust-resistant substances and are small enough to install in corners, along tables or against walls. If you are interested in adding some water to your interior design, choose one of the water feature options that are available for most homes. - Inset aquariums are one of the larger water feature projects and are likely a permanent addition to your home. Inset aquariums are those built into walls. They work well in bordering walls that separate one room from the other (for example, kitchen from dining room) or in hallway walls where they can take the place of pictures. These water features may need more maintenance than other interior water feature options.
- Eco friendly water features come in many varieties. Some use a streaming effect to pass water from one small pool to the next in a square formation, creating a layered effect. Others may be more simplistic waterfall or pool designs. They all recycle water from other sources like rainwater, and so need access to the outdoors, often with subfloor pipes.
- Modern waterfalls stream a layer of water evenly over a back surface. They have a small basin that the waterfall surface flows into, catching the water and pumping it back up to the top, which creates a rippling effect over the surface. Some background surfaces are made of stone or metal while others are made from plastics or even glass.
- Portable water features are small versions that you can move around from shelf to shelf or table to table. Some modern waterfalls are small enough to carry around, but most portable versions are more simple, plastic versions that ripple water over a shelf. You can decorate these easily with stones and pebbles.
