How to Install an Internet Surveillance Camera
- 1). Place your wireless IP security camera in a position where it will be able to monitor the room you are looking to keep an eye on. In most cases, your camera will come with the hardware necessary to mount the camera to the wall. This will allow you to place your wireless camera anywhere in the room you want without the need for cabling.
- 2). Connect your wireless router to your Internet modem using the cabling that comes with the router.
- 3). Connect your computer to your wireless router. A wireless router needs at least one computer wired directly into it to function properly, so if you only have one computer on the router, use category five network cable to attach it to the router.
- 4). Turn on your router and then turn on your computer. If there is any software to install to connect to the router, install it and then restart your computer.
- 5). Install any software that came with your wireless camera. Shut the computer and the router down.
- 6). Turn on your equipment in the order of the router, the computer and then the wireless IP camera.
- 7). Refer to the user's manual for the wireless camera to determine what the IP address may be for the camera. This will be a sequence of four numbers, all one to three digits, in a xxx.xxx.xxx.xxx format. Input this number into the browser address box of your Internet browser and the images the camera is capturing will appear in your browser.
