How to Change Backset LSDA Locks
- 1). Locate the small hole in the thumb latch located on the inside of the door, then press a paperclip into the hole. The paperclip releases a small latch that holds the thumb latch onto the deadbolt.
- 2). Pull the thumb latch straight out and away from the deadbolt, while keeping the paperclip firmly pressed into the hole.
- 3). Pull the lock cylinder out from the front of the door. As you pull it out, take note of how the rod connected to the back of the cylinder goes through the hole in the latch bolt.
- 4). Remove the screws that hold the latch bolt plate onto the side of the door, then pull the latch plate and latch bolt out of the door. The latch plate and latch plate bolt are a single unit.
- 5). Slide the new latch plate and latch plate bolt into the side of the door, and secure it with the screws.
- 6). Slide the rod extending from the back of the new lock cylinder into the same hole the previous lock cylinder went into.
- 7). Slide the thumb latch onto the lock cylinder rod until it snaps into place.
