Common Side Effects

• Some severe common side effects are slow heartbeat, abnormally low blood pressure and periods of not breathing. Some less severe common effects are involuntary muscle movements and irritation at injection site.
  
  

Infrequent Side Effects

• Some severe infrequent side effects are high blood pressure and high fat count in the blood. Some less severe effects are head pain and abnormal color change with urine.
  
  

Rare Side Effects

• Some rare severe side effects are heart failure, acute kidney failure, shortness of breath and decrease lung function. Some less severe effects are stomach cramps, cough and dizziness.
  
  

Allergic Side Effects

• Allergic side effects are rash, chest tightness, pain and redness at injection site, wheezing and swelling to mouth, face, lips and tongue.
  
  

Uses

• This medicine is used in the hospital for surgery and sedation in patients with delirium tremors, asthma, head injuries, epilepticus and critically septic patients.
