    • 1). Fold the suede in half to create a rectangle. The fabric is wide enough to create two standard size vests, so use the scissors to cut the fabric down the middle.

    • 2). Cut a 6-inch semi-circle through both layers of suede at the fabric fold to create a head hole. Work on one vest at a time.

    • 3). Use the scissors to cut 6-inch semicircles at the sides of the fabric, through both layers of suede and near the top, to serve as arm holes.

    • 4). Use the scissors to cut through both layers of suede to trim 1/2-inch strands off the bottom of the vest. Repeat to create a total of four strands, which will lace up the sides of the vest.

    • 5). Use the leather punch to create four holes through both layers of suede, down the sides of the vest, about 2 inches apart in length.

    • 6). Use the leather strands to lace the sides of the vest, like shoelaces, knotting the ends at both top and bottom.

    • 7). Use the scissors to create the vest opening by cutting down the middle of one layer of suede.

    • 8). Add fringe detailing by using the scissors to cut 1/4-inch slits into the bottom of the vest.
