How to Clean Diamonds With Household Products
- 1). Fill a bowl with ½ cup water. Add a few drops off mild bleach-free dish soap. Mix it up well with your hands.
- 2). Put your diamond into the bowl of soapy water. Let the diamond soak for 20 minutes.
- 3). Use a soft-bristled jewelry brush or small toothbrush to gently scrub the diamond. Rinse the diamond well under warm water, then dry thoroughly with a lint-free rag.
- 4). Fill a bowl with ½ cup water, 1 tsp. household ammonia and a few drops of bleach-free liquid dish soap if the diamond is especially dirty and needs a more intense cleaning. Soak the diamond in the ammonia mixture for 20 minutes. Gently scrub the diamond with a soft jewelry brush or toothbrush. Rinse well under warm water, then dry thoroughly with a lint-free cloth.
- 5). Pour ¼ cup rubbing alcohol into a clean bowl. Dip the diamond into the rubbing alcohol, then buff it with a clean, lint-free cloth to polish and shine the diamond after cleaning.
