Hairdryer

• 1). Plug a hairdryer into an electrical outlet. Turn the temperature setting to medium and switch the hairdryer on.
  
  
• 2). Hold the hairdryer several inches above the clear packing tape and move in a back-and-forth motion. Continue applying heat for several seconds to soften the packing tape adhesive.
  
  
• 3). Grasp the end of the packing tape and slowly pull the tape off the wood while continuing to apply heat. Repeat the process until you have removed the tape.
  
  
• 4). Rub the adhesive left behind from the packing tape off the wood with a pencil eraser. Wipe the wood clean with a cloth dampened with cool water.
  
  

Water-Displacing Spray

• 1). Saturate the clear packing tape with water-displacing spray.
  
  
• 2). Leave the water-displacing spray on the tape for five to 10 minutes before gently scrapping the tape off the wood with a plastic scrapper.
  
  
• 3). Repeat the process until you have removed all traces of the packing tape.
  
  
• 4). Wipe the wood clean with a cloth dampened with cool, soapy water.
  
  

Nail Polish Remover

• 1). Rub the packing tape with a cotton swab saturated with nail polish remover that contains acetone.
  
  
• 2). Let the acetone sit on the packing tape for several minutes. This will give the acetone time to loosen the tape's adhesive.
  
  
• 3). Pull the tape off the wood. Immediately wipe the acetone off the wood with a clean cloth dampened with cool, soapy water. Acetone can damage wood finish if let on the surface for an extended period of time.
  
  

Rubbing Alcohol

• 1). Pour 2 tbsp. of rubbing alcohol in a small dish. Saturate a clean cotton swab in the alcohol.
  
  
• 2). Rub the edge of the clear packing tape with the rubbing alcohol until thoroughly saturated. Gently peel the tape off the wood with your fingers.
  
  
• 3). Continue applying the rubbing alcohol if you meet resistance when trying to remove the tape. Immediately clean the rubbing alcohol off the wood with a damp cloth.
