Celebrating Our Children"s Graduation

It's that time of year again where students are graduating all over the country in the months of May and early June.
Some students are off to college and some are off to find employment, either way they begin a new chapter in their lives.
Both parents and children will be trying to adjust to their new roles in life.
Remembering, that little boy or girl who grew up before their eyes, needing them for all their basic and not so basic needs are all grown up with a strong need for independence, an opinion and a mind of their own.
They are planning their futures, reaching for the highest mountains and not settling for less.
Where did the time go? We have clients who are giving their children a video montage to celebrate their lives as a graduate gift; they are bonding over their choice of music and photos.
Their children are shocked at all the souvenirs Mom and Dad kept, the locks of hair, all the report cards, school papers, poems, the badges and trophies.
The fun and emotions going through 17 years of celebrations with your child alone is a precious memory.
I can remember my own mother giving me my box of treasures, I was so surprised at what she kept; all my report cards from Kindergarten to when I graduated high school and every school badge I had ever won.
I was pleased, flattered and so grateful that Mom had done this and carried it with her each time we moved.
Even for those who are not doing a video montage for your graduating student, you can still bond over photos and souvenirs, recalling those precious moments when your child first learned to walk and talk.
Looking back with your teen just might be what the doctor ordered, it confirms to them their importance in your life, they also get to see how much they have evolved into young adults.
