How to Make a Faux Tintype
- 1). Print the desired image on transparency paper. If you have an inkjet printer, allow the transparency to dry.
- 2). Cut the image out of the transparency with scissors. Pull off enough aluminum foil to lay your cutout on and lay the foil on your workspace.
- 3). Apply a thin coat of decoupage medium to the back of the transparency with the brush. Apply the transparency on the dull side of your aluminum foil, with the medium contacting the foil. Let it dry, then cut the aluminum foil around the transparency.
- 4). Glue the completed tintype to a piece of card stock with white glue. Allow the glue to dry. Use your scissors to cut the card stock to the size of the tintype.
