Step-by-Step on How to Replace a Solenoid Valve on a Sprinkler System

    • 1). Turn the electrical power supply to the sprinkler system off.

    • 2). Locate the solenoid valve assigned to the zone that is not operating.

    • 3). Remove the electrical plug from the top of the solenoid. Pull the plug straight up by hand.

    • 4). Turn the solenoid valve counterclockwise by hand to remove it from the water valve body. If the solenoid is too tight, apply gentle jaw pressure with lockjaw pliers to loosen it.

    • 5). Install the new solenoid valve. Tighten clockwise by hand.

    • 6). Replace the electrical plug onto the solenoid valve until it is fully seated.

    • 7). Restore electrical power to the sprinkling system.
