How to Clean Brass Metal
- 1). Pour the vinegar into a bowl. Add the salt to the bowl.
- 2). Use a scouring pad and a soft cloth to apply the mixture of vinegar and salt to the brass item. Scrub areas that need scouring with the scouring pad, and wipe areas that are not tarnished with the soft cloth.
- 3). To clean tougher spots off brass, add flour to your vinegar and salt mixture until you have a paste.
- 4). Wash your hands, and use your fingers to apply the paste to the surface of the brass item you are cleaning. Leave the paste on the item for about 15 minutes.
- 5). Rinse the brass item in warm water when you have successfully removed all the tarnish. Dry completely with a clean soft cloth.
