    • 1). Lay the new gasket in warm water to make it more flexible. This will help make the installation easier.

    • 2). Grasp the inside of the old gasket and peel it up slightly to expose the metal gasket retainer.

    • 3). Place your hex-nut driver on each screw and loosen until the retainer loosens from the door.

    • 4). Pull the old gasket out of the retainer and discard it. Start at one of the top corners and slip the lip of the new gasket under the retainer. Work the gasket around the rest of the door and tighten the retainer screws until they are snug.

    • 5). Close the freezer door and check to see that it did not warp after working on it. If you notice it's warped, grasp the door on the top and bottom. Push the side that is warped out while pulling the other side to re-straighten the door.

    • 6). Tighten the screws the rest of the way. Open the freezer door up all the way and apply a layer of petroleum jelly to the gasket on the side of the door that contains the hinges. This will prevent gasket drag when opening the door.
