How to Replace the Battery in a 15GB iPod
- 1). Power your 15GB iPod off.
- 2). Insert your case opener tool in the seam along all sides of the iPod to pry apart the front and back covers. Once the covers are loose from each other, pull them apart. The two covers will still be connected by a cable, however. That cable can remain in tact. The two covers do not need to be completely separated to access the battery.
- 3). Take out the hard drive, which is partially covered in blue tape, and pull it from the connector snap which is a flat aluminum piece at the bottom of the hard drive. Underneath the hard drive will be the battery.
- 4). Locate the power connector cable that connects the battery to the other components inside your iPod. Undo the connection with your fingers to detach the battery.
- 5). Replace your iPod battery with a new battery, and reattach the power connector. Then replace the hard drive, and lastly, push the two covers back together.
