Custom stickers and decals are a great way to add some personality to your car or motorcycle.
And if you want to take it to the next level, there is no reason to stop there! Many bikers are into customizing their helmets and other gear, and even adding Harley Davidson stickers (or whatever else your ride is) to their car, home, or desk at work.
If you want to design your own motorcycle decals, you are in luck as there are heaps of online sources that will take your design and turn it into reality.
If you aren't the arty type but you still know what you want, a lot of these service will also take your concept and do the work themselves to put it together.
A quick search online will  reveal a printer that services your area, but call or email around to find the best price as this can vary.
If you are going to design your own decals from scratch, you might want to look into an image editing program.
Photoshop is the gold standard for designing this kind of thing, but there is also free options available - one popular choice is called Gimp.
There are just a few design tips to keep in mind, but apart from that the sky is the limit.
  • KISS - Keep It Simple Stupid.
This good old rule applies to motorcycle decals just like anything else.
Pick one image and a simple block of text that works with it.
Your design will be more powerful if it isn't covered in lots of text.
  • Die cutting - printed stickers can be cut to whatever shape you want, but more complex shapes get more expensive.
Aim for a simple shape like a circle or oval if you are on a budget.
  • Clear vinyl printing - if you are adding a sticker to a colored surface, as lots of bikers would be doing, it is possible to print your sticker on clear stock, so you can see the surface of your bike through any blank patches.
