How to Make an Irish Scarf
- 1). Measure the desired length for your scarf. Scarves are typically made in lengths of 5 feet. Determine the desired width of your scarf. Typically, scarves are about 5 inches wide.
- 2). Lay your fleece fabric on the floor and flatten out any wrinkles. Measure and mark the fabric to the desired length and width as determined in Step 1. Cut the fleece at these measurements. If you are using more than one fabric, repeat this step to cut the remaining fabrics.
- 3). Lay your cut fleece fabric on the floor. If you are using more than one layer of fabric, place the other fleece fabrics on top of this first piece. Pin together the edges of all the layers of fabric.
- 4). Sew a straight stitch down the center of the length of the fleece fabric. Repeat this step once more to enhance the sturdiness of the scarf.
- 5). Cut 1/2-inch horizontal strips down both sides of the length of the scarf. The strips should end about 1/4 inch from the center seam. Pick up your scarf and shake it gently in order to fluff out the cut strips.
