How to Install Blue Bird Houses
- 1). Put your bluebird house up in mid winter so that it is available as soon as they start to search for housing.
- 2). Find a location that is not too full of trees or bushes. Sunny lawns are a good area for bluebirds. Bluebirds like open spaces, which allow for feeding on insects.
- 3). Select a site that has perching areas nearby.
- 4). Choose a location with water close by, if possible.
- 5). Drill two holes in the top back of the house. Thread 3 feet of wire through these holes to hang the house onto a tree without harming the tree.
- 6). Wrap the wire around the tree at a height of 5 to 8 feet, and twist it around itself to create a snug grip onto the tree.
- 7). Bend back the ends of the wire to prevent accidental scratches from the raw cut ends.
