Unwind your silk thread and needle from the package. You will determine the proper size and thickness you need by the size of the bead and the drilled hole in it. For example, Japanese silk threads are sized from 10 to 17 based on thinnest to thickest while American silk thread is sized by the millimeter size of the beads, 2 millimeter to 12 millimeter. - 2). Thread the silk thread far enough through the jump ring that there is a two inch tail on the other side and lay down flat on your work area.

Tie the short end of the silk thread with the longer end into a half knot around the point of the jewelry awl. Pull the jewelry awl as close as you can get it to the jump ring. - 4

Remove the jewelry awl and use the jewelry tweezers to pull the half knot as close as you can to the jump ring. Add another half knot and use the jewelry tweezers to pinch the knot and to guide the knot as tightly as possible to the jump ring. - 5). Cut the excess length of the shorter end of the silk used to tie the knot as from now on you will only be knotting one silk thread.
- 6). Thread a pearl or whatever bead you are using for your jewelry creation onto the metal needle and down to the knot you made next to the jump ring.
- 7). Tie a knot into the thread around the very thinnest tip of the jewelry awl.
- 8). Remove the jewelry awl and use the jewelry tweezers to pinch the knot and pull it up tight against the bead you just threaded. There should be very little room between the knot and and the beads you are using.
- 9). Continue to thread your beads, knotting them firmly until you have achieved the length you are wanting for your creation. Your last tie with will be another jump ring. The jump rings are used to attached your clasp.
