• Visual learners are people who need to see information in order to store and retain it. For a visual learner to do well, he needs to watch a presenter who uses many gestures or uses languages that evoke pictures. • People who learn by reading and writing are at an advantage in the educational system because textbooks, handouts and chalkboards are devoted to the written word. Encourage note taking, essay writing and composing paragraphs to explain difficult to understand points from the class lectures. • Kinesthetic learners like to learn by doing or by engaging their physical body in action while learning. These types of learners love laboratory days where they can test out principles taught in the classrooms. They are the ones who appreciate field trips where they can touch and see the items that were only dry words to them back at the school. Kinesthetic learners also appreciate the use of many examples to illustrate concepts and the liberal use of trial and error learning. They are fascinated by collections, exhibits and recipes.
