How and Why to Buy a Co-Sleeper

If you want to buy a co-sleeper ask yourself a few questions:
  • Are you going to breastfeed?
  • Are you going to want your kids sleeping in your room for a long period of time?
  • Are you concerned about rolling over onto your child?
Co-Sleepers and Pack-N-Plays are wonderful for breastfeeding mothers that have to get up during the night or very early in the morning to nurse their baby.
It saves the already exhausted mommy from having to walk into another room, across the house, upstairs or simply just even across the room.
The mother can easily reach the baby and pull the child to her to nurse and then easily place the baby back in the co-sleeper so she too can get rest.
They are also great for first time mothers that are worried about every sound their child makes in the night.
A mother can easily sit up and see the child resting quietly or she can gently pat the child's back to ease them back to sleep.
Co-Sleepers and Pack N Plays are a safer choice than having kids directly in your bed with you.
When your kids are in your bed you run the risk of rolling over onto and crushing them, suffocating them if they roll over into you or if a blanket or sheet accidentally covers their face and you also run the risk of them falling off a bed.
Another downside to have a child sleep in your bed is it will start a routine/habit you may not want and it will put a damper on your intimacy and privacy your partner.
If your child is going to sleep in your room the first few weeks or months of its life then I definitely suggest investing in a co-sleeper or pack n play.
