Michael wanted to get an ex girlfriend back.
Michael is an army vet and he knows a battle when he sees one.
He also knows that to win a battle he had to have a winning battle plan.
Michael's ex, Helen, broke up with him because she had met another man.
The other man is a poet, and even though Michael knows that Helen has an artistic side, he also knows that at the end of the day, she would not be happy with a man whose idea of having a good time was to write rhyming verses.
He knew that this other man just wasn't the man that Michael is.
Michael set out to come up with a winning battle plan.
His plan consisted of three action points to his approach.
His first objective was to work on himself and attempt to smooth out his rough edges.
He changed his hair by allowing his armed forces style haircut grow out.
He also recalled some of the novels that Helen had mentioned and read them.
His plan was to become the type of boyfriend that Helen wanted.
His next approach was to show Helen that he was wanted by other women.
He called a friend of Helen's, whose name is Deana, and asked her out for dinner.
She accepted and Michael then sent Helen a text and asked her advice on a possible restaurant to take Deana to.
This didn't sit just exactly right with Helen and she immediately called Michael and asked him why he was taking Deana out.
Michael told her that since they were broke up he had to move on with his life.
He said that he had always felt Deana was a nice person and he would like to get to know her.
Then he told Helen that if she wasn't fond of the idea, maybe she would reconsider the breakup.
Upon hearing that, Helen slammed the phone down.
This was no surprise to Michael; it was what he expected.
But now the idea was planted in Helen's head - Michael is a desirable guy - all part of his strategy to get his ex girlfriend back.
Now it was time to put Michael's final part of his action plan into play.
He was going to use Deana to get information back to Helen.
On his date he was a perfect gentleman and made sure that Deana thoroughly enjoyed herself.
At the end of the night he took her home and kissed her on the cheek, not in his plan to go any further.
On the following day he sent her some flowers with a note that expressed his feelings about the date, "I really had a good time, hope you did too.
" What happened next was exactly what Michael hoped would happen.
Deana called up Helen and asked how she could have broken off a relationship with such a great guy.
Back to the poet - the luster of the relationship had worn off, and Helen was missing Michael a lot.
And after hearing from Deana about her date with Michael, Helen was having second thoughts.
She waited a day or two and called Michael to ask him if they could get back together.
That is how having a winning battle plan can get an ex girlfriend back.
