How to Disassemble a Pool Filter

    • 1). Unscrew the hose clamps or any adapters that hook the hoses to the filter pump and to the pool.

    • 2). Remove the hoses from the clamps or adapters.

    • 3). Unscrew the top of the filter pump and remove it from the pump. Some pumps are secured with a clamping system; unscrew the clamp screws with a screwdriver to remove the clamp before lifting off the top.

    • 4). Remove the filter from inside the pump.

    • 5). Unscrew any union collars from the valve fittings. Remove the O-ring installed underneath the valve fitting.

    • 6). Loosen all bolts with a wrench, if your filter pump is bolted to a base. Lift the filter pump off the base once the bolts are completely removed.

    • 7). Loosen any remaining bolts or screws with a screwdriver or wrench to remove any remaining additional pieces.
