How to Build a Decorative Birdhouse

• 1). Cut five pieces of wood that measure 4 inches wide by 6 inches tall. Cut a circular hole in one of the pieces for the door to the birdhouse.
  
  
• 2). Sand the edges of each piece of wood so they are smooth and will not splinter.
  
  
• 3). Paint each piece of wood a solid color. This will be the base color for the house so choose a color you want the finished birdhouse to be.
  
  
• 4). Glue four of the pieces together to form a box. The fifth piece of wood needs to be glued flat over the top to create the roof. Glue the roof down so that the overhang part is over the side with the door. Wood glue typically needs 24 hours to dry completely. Be sure to read the bottle before you begin.
  
  
• 5). Decorate the birdhouse. You can do this by painting flowers and bushes around the walls of the birdhouse. You can glue a fake bird in the door of the house. You can add fake butterflies to the outside of the house.
