How to Increase iPhone Reception

    • 1). Use the iPhone near windows or in open locations. Basements and other completely enclosed areas negatively affect reception, because the iPhone cannot reach the wireless towers as easy.

    • 2). Enable Wi-Fi when your wireless reception is bad. Some locations, such as rural areas, lack wireless coverage. If you have wireless Internet in your house or are near buildings that offer free Wi-Fi, your iPhone will often have a better wireless connection when Wi-Fi is enabled.

    • 3). Reset your iPhone. Resetting the iPhone refreshes the device and you will often find that you have better reception once the phone starts back up.

    • 4). Place the iPhone in a case. The iPhone reception increases when placed inside a case. Use iPhone-specific cases, because other cases can adversely affect reception and do not fit correctly onto the iPhone.

    • 5). Update your iPhone. Apple occasionally releases updates and fixes for the iPhone firmware. Some updates improve reception.
