Grace Perry Interview
Chad Bowar: I saw an interview Matt did with PETA. Is everyone in the band a vegan or vegetarian?
Grace Perry: Only Matt is vegan. The rest of the band is vegetarian. It wasn't planned. We all happened to be vegetarian or vegan. I'm not the hugest PETA fan, but I know some of my band members are.
I understand you have a misspelled tattoo.
I was in Vegas, drunk of course, because that's what you do in Vegas.
I was with two of my friends, and we had the idea to get a tattoo. On the way there, we were listening to Dethklok. I said I was going to get a “Murmaider” tattoo. I thought it was the most genius idea I had in my entire life. I didn't really think about looking up how to spell it, even though it's a fake word by a cartoon band. I got it, and a couple weeks later I figured out it wasn't spelled “Mermaider.” So now I have a misspelled fake word from a cartoon band tattoo. It is a good story, I guess.
Do you have any other tattoo you're prouder of, that were done correctly?
I don't, but I am going to be getting another tattoo. The rest of the band already got them. It's a band tattoo. I missed one practice, and came back and they said we're all getting a tattoo. It's a dagger through the world. We'll see how that turns out. It's about the size of my palm, a decent size.
What's the best movie or DVD you've seen lately?
I would say The Imaginarium Of Dr. Parnassus. I'm a huge Terry Gilliam fan, and it was Heath Ledger's last movie.
Johnny Depp and Jude Law came in and finished his role because he died in the middle of filming. It actually turned out to be an incredible movie.
What is your worst habit?
Never throwing any of my clothes away. I still have clothes from seventh grade. You can't imagine. I am the typical girl.
What's the biggest misconception fans have about you?
That I'm intimidating or mean or brutal. I'm definitely not. I'm a big old nerd, super friendly, and I hope fans are able to come up and talk to me freely without being intimidating.
What do you like to do away from the band?
I work full time. I just graduated from college, so until recently college was my hobby. I love reading science fiction, fantasy, anything in that genre. I also hang out with my four year old niece as much as I can.
What is your full time job?
I have two jobs. I work at the public library. I'm a circulation librarian there, and I'll serve at night or weekends. I love working at the library. I hope I can work there the rest of my life.
