Fashion Photographer

• A fashion photographer specializes in taking pictures of models in studios, on the runway or even outdoors. These photographers can work for fashion houses, fashion magazines or on an assignment basis. The photographer receives a brief for a certain shoot, then has to decide upon the location, mood and lighting, and work on the logistics. He is also required to direct the model to pose in such a way as to bring out a certain mood or vibe. Some knowledge of clothes and style is also essential.
  
  

Photojournalist

• Photojournalists take the photographs that appear in the newspapers and news magazines. They shoot a variety of subjects, depending on what is in the news. For instance, a photojournalist may have to take photographs to document a riot, cover a sporting event, photograph official and business meetings, and even take photos for human-interest stories. There are some press photographers who choose to specialize in taking photographs of sporting events as well. Press photographers must have good news sense, the ability to think on their feet and willingness to work on tight deadlines.
  
  

Wildlife Photographer

• These professional photographers dedicate themselves to taking pictures of wild animals. This branch involves a lot of discipline, hard work and a willingness to rough it out --- the photographer often has to wait in the wild for a long time before the he gets a chance to take a photo of any animals. Most wildlife photographers work early in the morning (from 5 a.m. to 10 a.m.). Their work can be seen in magazines like National Geographic. Being a wildlife photographer also requires some understanding of animals, and knowledge of them; it is hard work, but rewarding, particularly if you like wildlife.
  
  

Other Types

• There are other several types of photographers --- freelance photographers, who are not employed by any organization in general, but work on assignment basis; event photographers, who cover big events; wedding photographers, who specialize in shooting weddings and couple shoots; food photographers, who take photos of food. The specializations and opportunities are plenty.
