How to Sew a Breast Cancer Button
- 1). Unroll enough thread to sew on the button (about 14 inches worth).
- 2). Thread the needle. Wet and twist the end of the thread to help get it through the needle eye.
- 3). Pull the thread through, and tie a knot at the end of the thread.
For stronger thread, pull the thread all the way through so the thread is folded in half; tie the two ends together. - 4). Put the button onto the garment. Starting on the inside of the garment, poke the item with the needle and pull the needle and thread through the outside of the garment.
- 5). Place the button onto the garment. Wrap the needle and thread around the outer edge of the button and poke the needle through the front of the garment, pulling it out through the back--like sewing on a patch.
- 6). Continue repeating steps five and six around the whole button until the button feels secure and tight onto the garment.
- 7). Finish sewing with the needle and thread on the inside of the garment. Thread the needle under a thin layer of the fabric (similar to hemming), make a loop with thread and pull the needle through. Continue this twice on the inside of the garment. This will tie the thread securely.
