• Go beyond the standard phone call or text message by investing in a web cam and using an instant message program to connect to each other virtually. This gives you the opportunity to see your mate's face in addition to hearing his voice. Make the moment even more meaningful by pretending you are actually on a real date together. • Make your loved one a special home-made video and post it on a hosting site like YouTube. The video can include anything, ranging from a slide show of photos representing your times together to a short message professing your love. • This old-fashioned gesture is a nod to a simpler time, and gives your mate something of yours to physically hold. Refrain from using any technology in the process; write the letter by hand to give it an authentic feel and send it via postal mail. Watch a Movie Together

• Even when you are separated physically, you can still experience things together. Plan for a few hours that both of you are free from any obligations and designate that time for your relationship. Find something on TV that you both enjoy, make some popcorn, and watch it at the same time together. Alternatively, the two of you might instead go to a local video store at the same time and pick out a movie over the phone. Beginning and ending the same movie at the same time gives you the comfort of knowing that, even though you are apart, you are still able to enjoy things as a couple.
