How to Install Pool Filters
- 1). The first step is to determine which type of filter your pool uses. There are three basic filter types. They are Diatomaceous Earth, Sand, and Cartridge Filters. It is important to chose the correct one for your filtration system.
- 2). Next, you will need to make sure that you purchase the proper size. Filters come in all sorts of shapes and sizes and you will need one that fits your pool's filtration system. Having the wrong size or shape will do you no good.
- 3). Now you are ready to begin the installation process. Remember this is a generic guide and you should always consult the filter's instruction manual for specific instructions.
First you will need to place the filter on the equipment pad (the equipment pad should be a level slab of concrete, never wood, because would can warp and decay) - 4). Now, connect the circulation plumbing to the filter. Most filters have two lines, an influent and effluent line. The influent line brings the water into the filter and the effluent takes it away. A gate valve should be applied to both lines and all O-rings should be clean and properly lubricated.
- 5). If you needed to use an type of adhesive in setting up your filter make sure you give it plenty of time to dry before operating the unit.
Now, that everything is done, follow the filters instruction manual on how to turn on and begin operation.
