How to Calculate Executor Fees in B.C.
- 1). Determine what you want to charge for each hour of your time. Multiply that rate by the number of hours that you spent performing your duties as executor,
- 2). Calculate the assets of the estate and multiply that by 5 percent. These assets cannot include anything that has had a beneficiary or has been held in joint title with survivorship. They must have been listed on Form 91.
- 3). Calculate the income that the estate has received while you have been executor and multiply that by 5 percent.
- 4). Combine the results of Step 2 and 3 and this will give you the maximum amount that you can charge if there are no other arrangements in place. However, bear in mind that it is a maximum and often the fee based on the dollar value of an estate may be excessive when compared with the work involved.
