    Shading

    • 1). Draw the basic outline of the object you wish to make 3D.

    • 2). Use the pencil to shade areas of light and dark on the object, by choosing a direction of light and then imagining which areas would be shadowed by other parts of the object.

    • 3). Use this shading effect to give definition and depth to your object by shading edges with darker tones.

    Cavalier Perspective

    • 1). Draw your object 2D with defining features and lines.

    • 2). Choose a direction from the object that would be either, north west, north east, south west or south west.

    • 3). Draw lines from all the edges that don't cut into the object with a 45-degree angle away from the object.

    • 4). Identify the correct thickness of the object that would give it a realistic depth and use the eraser to get rid of the excess lines.

    Color

    • 1). Draw your object using one of the methods above.

    • 2). Increase the realistic look of your object by coloring different sides of the object in different colors.

    • 3). Color parts of your object that face the same direction the same color or shade and do so for other sides to give your object perspective.

    • 4). Use only a few shades or colors to give your object a realistic consistency.
