• Crider soils are deep, well-drained and permeable soils. The average annual temperature is 57 degrees Fahrenheit. Crider soils were named after a community in Caldwell County, Kentucky, where the soils were established in 1957.
  
  

Types

• Farmers in Kentucky also use Baxter and Maury soils. Baxter soils, used for vegetables, fruits and grains, are often found on hilltops, while silty Maury soils are used to cultivate various types of trees.
