It will take time, it's not going to happen overnight but it will work.
Those hundreds of crunches and sit-ups you subject yourself to are only tightening up muscle that is hid under pounds and pounds of fat tissue.
The fat has to go first.
Your cardiovascular routine, whether it is walking, biking, jogging or some other form or aerobic exercise, should be for at least thirty minutes and be every day.
The thirty minute window allows your body to deplete its glycogen stores and start burning fat.
In order to flatten that lower belly, you have to get rid of the fat and tone the muscle.
Just toning and tightening with ab workouts will not make it go away.
Your exercise routine should also have some weight or strength exercise added to it.
As you are losing the fat with the cardio routine you want to be working on the tone and definition of the lower ab muscle.
Again, you must be consistent in your routine.
Watching your diet is also a must.
Keep your protein levels high to keep those fat burning hormones flowing and limit your intake of fats, refined foods and sugars.
Drink at least 8 glasses of water every day to keep your body flushed.
These steps will help to keep the fat burning process going.
Finally, keep your stress level to a minimum.
Stress causes the body to release cortisol which plays a huge role in abdominal fat.
Losing lower belly fat doesn't have to be the hardest thing you've ever done, but it will be a very gratifying thing.
When you can tuck your shirt into your pants with a flat abdomen all the way you know you have succeeded.
